JANA EDELBAUM

JANA EDELBAUM founded Ideal Partners over twenty years ago which is an independent film/TV development and production company based in NYC. Ideal's recently completed documentary projects include: THE LIBRARIANS, a feature documentary about the book banning movement which began in Texas and which swept across the USA targeting Librarians directed by Kim Snyder, which premiered Sundance 2025, went on to be released theatrically in over 300 markets, won awards at 27 film festivals and aired on ITVS/Independent Lens February 2026; the feature documentary BEYOND UTOPIA, whos numerous awards include the 2023 Sundance Audience Award for US Documentaries and the Dupont Journalism Award, about North Korean human rights abuses through the eye of its defectors; IDINA MENZEL: WHICH WAY TO THE STAGE, a concert/biographical documentary film about the acclaimed and multifaceted artist streaming on Disney+; and a narrative feature film biopic about iconic choreographer Alvin Ailey to be directed by Barry Jenkins and distributed by Fox Searchlight. Previous projects include docs and narratives from HOUSE OF Z; STRANGE WEATHER; THE INEVITABLE DEFEAT OF MISTER & PETE and DIRTY GIRL. Ideal's films have been nominated for BAFTA, PGA, DGA, Oscar Shortlist and won Independent Spirit, Humanitas Award and numerous film festival awards. Edelbaum is a member of BAFTA. She lives in NYC and is the proud mother to three adult children.

RACHEL COHEN

RACHEL COHEN is an independent film producer who, since 2007, has been head of production at Ideal Partners. Recent projects include THE LIBRARIANS, directed by Kim Snyder, premiered at Sundance in 2025 and continues to screen nation-wide while, airing on ITVS/Independent Lens. Past films include the feature documentary BEYOND UTOPIA - numerous awards include the 2023 Sundance Audience Award for best documentary, the DuPont Journalism Award and was short-listed for the Oscars and received nominations for DGA, PGA, BAFTA and Emmy Awards; IDINA MENZEL: WHICH WAY TO THE STAGE? For Disney+; Katherine Dieckmann’s, STRANGE WEATHER; and THE INEVITABLE DEFEAT OF MISTER & PETE, directed by George Tillman, Jr. Currently projects in development include a biopic about iconic choreographer Alvin Ailey to be directed by Barry Jenkins and distributed by Searchlight. Ideal's films have been nominated for BAFTA, PGA, DGA, and Oscar Shortlist and won Independent Spirit and Humanitas Award among others. Prior to Ideal, Rachel was SVP of Development and Production at Tribeca Productions, and before that she spent seven years at Artisan Entertainment as SVP Development and Acquisitions where notable acquisitions included THE BLAIR WITH PROJECT. She is a member of The Television Academy and The Producers Guild of America.

Janna Devinsky

Director, Development and Production at Ideal Partners. Previous experience include Random House Studio, a group within Penguin Random House/Fremantle dedicated to book-to-TV/Film Adaptations; agent assistant at WME; on-air planner at HBO. Graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor's of Business Administration and Film Studies.
